Elena Eros was born in Moscow, Russia. In 1971 she competed with thousands of other talented young people from all over Russia and won a coveted place at the Faculty of Applied Art, Moscow State Textile University, where she studied under renowned Russian Artists. In 1973 Eros was awarded an ‘Outstanding Student International Scholarship”, enabling her to accomplish her MA in Fashion Design at the Hungarian University of Applied Art in Budapest. In 1980 Ms Eros was invited to teach in Moscow Textile University, as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Applied Art (Drawing and Painting Department). Later in Budapest, Eros worked as a Fashion Trend Coordinator, Designer, Lecturer and Illustrator in Hungarian Fashion Institute, as a Portrait Artist in Residence for Hungarian Medical Society, background painter for Pannonia Film Studios and was a freelance Artist and an Art Instructor. In Great Britain in 1996, Elena Eros worked as a freelance Art Instructor, Artist, Portraitist and Tour Guide in National and Portrait Galleries. Her popular “Hats” series showing her unique vision of various equestrian events, inspired by famous Ascot Race Courses, began there.
Now residing in Arizona, Eros won a drawing competition sponsored by American Artist magazine where a portrait study of her father was published in the winter 2006 issue. Remaining faithful to the nature of her subjects in accordance with her Russian Art education, and at the same time her Hungarian experience in Applied Art, allows Eros to interpret & stylize.
